Evaporator Coil Drain Pan Safety Recall

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada, Goodman Manufacturing Company, L.P. (“Goodman”) is voluntarily recalling certain molded plastic evaporator coil drain pans that were sold from approximately January 2019 through November 2021.

This recall applies only to affected drain pans that are verified to be paired in the field with residential condensing gas furnaces installed in an up-flow/vertical configuration.

Affected drain pans were assembled as new equipment with certain evaporator coil models with serial number prefixes ranging from 1901-2101 and were sold from approximately January 2019 through November 2021.

Affected drain pans were also sold as service parts from approximately January 2019 through November 2021 and may be within the scope of the recall regardless of coil serial number.

To determine if you have an affected drain pan, we will need:

the serial number of your evaporator coil

(If you received an Owner Notice, the coil serial number we have on file for you may be listed on your Notice.)

We may also need information about:

  • your furnace and
  • information about your outdoor system (air conditioner or heat pump)

When you are ready, click the Get Started Button below.

We will walk you through the steps for finding information about your components and determining if your unit is affected

If you have more than one coil, we will need a separate registration for each unit.

Evaporator Coil Serial Number:

If your evaporator coil serial number is shown in the notice letter you received, enter that number below, unless you have replaced the evaporator coil or know the number to be inaccurate. If you have replaced your evaporator coil or know the serial number in the notice letter to be inaccurate, refer to your installation or service records for the evaporator coil serial number. Records can also be obtained from your installation or service contractor.

If you do not have and cannot obtain such a record, please collect that information by inspecting the unit.

The evaporator coil sits atop the vertically installed furnace.

The evaporator coil’s serial number is displayed on a label attached to both cased and uncased models.

For cased evaporator coils, the serial number is on the label attached to the coil case. For uncased units, the serial number is on a label attached to the front of the coil.
